Here are some of the ways that help me when i undergo intensive brain storming
session with clients or my marketing friends and also will help when it comes
to writing copy or ads for you business or niche.
1 - organise your writing outline your piece and how you will approach it.
2- outline the basic messages you want to get accross, writing needs to have
a theme. A theme is usually an objective for example you might want to
persuade someone to do soemting.
3- Be clear and exact with your ideas.
4- use facts and benefits all the the time.
5- avoid words with more than one meaning.
6- Use a thesaurus so that you can choose simple words not complex ones.
Pay particular attention to your words to avoid repeating specific ones.
7- Dont use convoluted sentences use simple one with small descriptive words.
8- Use one idea per paragraph.
9- Use one, or at most two, sentences per paragraph.
10- Maintain a logical order for sentences.
11- avoid generalisations.
12- Be specific provide details.
13- avoid repetition.
14- use present tense as if it is happening now.
15- put important info at the start of your writing as readers may have switched
off by the time they get halfway through.
16- Use active rather than passive voice.
17- avoid jargon explain everything in laymens terms.
18- Dont contradict yourself, smart readers pick up and will turn away if they spot it.
19- draft , draft and redraft.
20- Get someone else or target someone to review your work see if it grabs their attention.
focus on a group and get feedback and take both good and bad comments.
21- Take your time to edit over a day or two...you need to rest your brain. sometime a break
is all we need to feel revitalised and complete a masterpiece.
